Shoshana Frishberg-Izzo

This is Shoshana Frishberg-Izzo’s first time showing in a gallery. She is a 23-year old Brooklyn native and began studying analog photography in 2005, while in high school. That following summer Shoshana participated in a two-week program at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where she conceded that her real passion was working in a darkroom for hours on end with nothing but her negatives and a Sony Diskman. When she returned senior year, she served as the TA and worked on her portfolio for college. Upon getting accepted to George Washington University in DC, however, she was only able to take one darkroom course as a Sociology/Italian major, and photography became a side hobby for the following three years. On graduation day, Shoshana was gifted with a Canon Rebel T1i DSLR from her family, coupled with a trip to East Africa, and photography became more than a hobby once again. This past year she has been honored with being the “Photobooth” photographer at the Veggie Prom in Williamsburg, as well as studying at FIT and SVA and interning for a day with Stephen Mallon, her favorite contemporary photographer in the field that she’s interested in pursuing (industrial photography). Shoshana has also been a vegetarian since August 13th, 2006 and has been making the switch to vegan for the past two years; the decision became solidified after living with her mother and mother’s boyfriend for over year who are both vegan. She is VERY grateful to all those involved in helping her get to this first show, and for all of the support and help from her family, friends and boyfriend.
