Les LaRue
Les LaRue is a deacon at Metropolitan Community Church of New York. He works as an illustrator and graphic designer and has designed Holiday greeting cards for the Museum of Modern Art. He also designs and illustrates Flash animations, which can be seen at www.leslarue.com.
Les is vegan because he believes that animal lives are as valid and amazing as human ones. His experience of relating to living creatures is more precious and enriching to his life than any meal he’s ever eaten.
The work exhibited here was done using Sharpie markers on vellum board. The drawings are each constructed of simple patterns that repeat and unify at the same time as they are circumscribing distinct forms. This is an aspect of awareness and is also decorative.
