Daniel Dunbar

Daniel Dunbar is the co-owner/founder of Dun-Well Doughnuts, an all-vegan, artisanal doughnut business in NYC. He graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009 with a degree in sculpture. Inspired by the potential of art to effect social and political climates, Daniel’s work has taken on a number of different forms. His work ranges from sculpture, to painting, to performance art and he considers all deeply connected to his life as an activist. “Art can be used as a window to new perceptions,” he says. “It can allow us to see something we would not have been able to see otherwise.” He considers this true for his visual art, as well as his “edible art.” “I’ve always considered making doughnuts an art endeavor. I’m interested in making things that can help equip people to make positive changes in their lives. Whether it’s a painting or a doughnut, if it can help make the world a better place I’m going to call it “art.”
