Moderator of MCC Calls for Immediate Action on DADT.

Today I call on all MCCers and our allies to join SLDN in keeping the pressure on our Federal Government to REPEAL "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  I enclose here the letter I received from Aubrey Sarvis, and ask that you join me in taking action.

Grace and Peace,

+Nancy

The Rev. Nancy Wilson, Moderator

Dear Rev. Wilson:

The time has come to call upon President Obama to keep his word on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” On the campaign trail, then-Senator Obama repeatedly said the law should go. But now, after nearly 100 days in office, there has been virtual silence from the White House. What happened? We’ve waited far too long to remain silent. We’ve seen far too many qualified men and women discharged to just stand by idly. It is our responsibility to make sure that President Obama keeps his promise.

With that in mind, SLDN would like you and the MetropolitanCommunityChurch to join us in this campaign to hold the President true to his word. Together, our voices will send a powerful message to the White House and show that we will not sit back as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” remains on the books. Specifically, you can…

·         Share the attached letter to President Obama with your members. Spread the word that President Obama can help kill “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” when he submits his defense budget to Congress in May – he just needs to step up and lead the way.

·         Encourage your members to call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414. Tell President Obama to stop the firing of service members because of their sexual orientation. Once they make the call, your members can record comments at: http://www.sldn.org/WhiteHouseCall.

·         Feature the attached call to action ad on your website. Raise the visibility around this coordinated campaign. You can link to the following page – http://www.sldn.org/page/s/switchboard – which will feature the White House switchboard number.

Thank you,

Aubrey Sarvis
